Alliteration

Spider-man

Alliteration is when several words close together start with the same sound.

Ex: Peter Parker is the sensational Spider-Man!

Why is alliteration important?
One reason is that it can help us remember.
Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee used alliteration to help him remember his character’s names. That’s why we have so many characters with names like Bruce Banner, Green Goblin, Miles Morales, Reed Richards, J. Jonah Jameson, etc.

This can backfire however as Lee once famously called Bruce Banner, Bob Banner by mistake. He covered it up nicely though by changing his full name to Robert Bruce Banner.

Alliteration is also great for practicing pronunciation. Just look at these fun tongue twisters:
Sally sells seashells by the sea shore.
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
Where whales watch widows.
Tom turtle turned twenty-two today.
