When I needed materials to teach my son to read and write, I made them! Learning the English alphabet is a great first step into reading and understanding the wonderful world of words all around us. With my son, I started with letters and writing for fun, then started moving into letter pairs and phonics. We played games with letter combinations, and just tried to read as many bedtime stories as possible. In our case, the main thing was to enjoy the adventure.
